The Blogosphere report analyzes the growing social and economic impact of this once niche-communications channel.

The number of people creating blogs in the US will also grow, reaching 34.7 million people by 2012—16% of the Internet population. By contrast, there were some 22.6 million US bloggers in 2007, a number that correlates to 12% of Internet users.

Buoyed by these massive levels of consumer engagement, US blog advertising will reach $746 million in 2012, up from $283 million in 2007.

Henrique de Castro, head of European sales for Google, stressed the enormous growth in the online video audience recently, but acknowledged that video search has a long way to go in helping audiences get what they want out of it. Mr. de Castro predicted that proper video search would be “sorted” [out] in the next 12 to 24 months, however.

Las madres en la web

Segun Comscore Media Metrix en US, las madres con chicos ya alcanzan un 16% de la penetración total.

comScore Media Metrix, measuring a slightly different population, estimated that in December 2007 there were 30.1 million women online who were between the ages of 25 and 54 and had one or more children at home. These women made up 16.4% of all US Internet users during that month.

Two other researchers provide estimates for the number of moms online. According to Nielsen Online @Plan, there were 32.4 million women online with children under 18 in their household as of winter 2007/2008, making up 22.6% of all adult Internet users.
